Securing a deposit for work is a helpful way to protect yourself, your company and your customer against future issues.

Here's how you'll require a deposit on your bid!

**You must have your STRIPE account connected to Paythepoolman in order to require a deposit prior to approval.**

Click here for details on how to set up your Stripe account: https://paythepoolman.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/44002627926

1) First, go to your Company Dashboard and click on BIDS located in the black sidebar to the left of the screen.

2) Next, click the blue plus sign to create a new bid, and a pop-up window will open for searching the customer's name.

3) Once you've selected your customer, the screen below will open. The bid number appears in the upper lefthand corner, and you'll have several fields for entering dates, the item (or items) regarding the bid, as well as pricing and quantity fields. In the upper right hand corner, there are several actions you can take, such as PRINT BID, EMAIL BID, SAVE BID, or CANCEL. You also have the option of attaching the bid as a PDF to an email, and under that is where you'll see DEPOSIT PAYMENT REQUIRED TO APPROVE.

** PLEASE NOTE:  THE DEPOSIT REQUIREMENT MUST BE ADDED WHEN THE BID IS INITIALLY CREATED, HERE ON THIS SCREEN, AS YOU WILL NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO REQUIRE A DEPOSIT AFTER THE BID HAS BEEN CREATED. **

4) There are two options for requiring a deposit:  PERCENTAGE AMOUNT or FLAT RATE.  Make your selection, then enter the amount of your choosing on the line below.

5) After you've entered the information, you can click on SAVE BID so you can view it.

** NOTE:  THE REQUESTED DEPOSIT WILL NOT SHOW ON THE INVOICE, BUT THE CUSTOMER WILL BE NOTIFIED WHEN THEY RECEIVE THE BID. **

6) This is a sample of what the customer will see (below) after they open the bid and approve it.  Note that the amount requested is ONLY the requested deposit, and not the Invoice total. Note, also, that the customer IS advised of the processing fee, as this information appears at the bottom of the pop-up window.

 7) The customer pays the deposit and the work moves forward!
